His deep connection with Alaska is the inspiration for his Alaska wilderness adventure. Warren comments about his writing: “I suppose you could say I am a late bloomer when it comes to writing novels. As a young man, I enjoyed writing short stories and poetry, but it wasn’t until my late middle age that I was ready to write and publish actual books. It may be that it took me until I had a backlog of experience to rely on, so that my work contains what I feel is needed to write a good story, but at this point, I know it was Alaska itself, this incredible wild land that brought it out in me.” Warren and Joyce live in a cabin in Willow, Alaska, 70 miles north of Anchorage, surrounded by spruce and birch, enjoying the ow of the seasons, living a peaceful life.
